“An American In Paris” is directed by Vincente Minnelle. The main characters are Jerry Mulligan (Gene Kelly) and Lise Bouvier (Leslie Caron). The movie takes place in Paris, France. It is a romantic movie with lots of music and scenes that will make you laugh.
Jerry Mulligan, a painter who wants be remembered in the world for his beautiful paintings, meets a woman named Milo Roberts (Nina Foch). She helps him make his dream come true while hoping he has the same feeling as she has for him. Jerry then meets a girl named Lise Bouvier and fall madly in love with her. In their attempts sharing their secret love, Lise must marry a man named Henre Baurel (Georges Guetary). Who is a very important businessman that wants to make his way to America. Even though Henri didn’t know of their love he could tell how much Lise cared for Jerry.
The music was composed by Conrad Salinger, Ira Gershwin, George Gershwin, and Saul Chaplin. The music is very happy and up beat , but it didn’t sound very clear. It really expresses how the characters are feeling in a specific moment. Sometimes the music can be a little annoying, but overall the music was good
I liked this film because of the romance and it is kind of funny. I liked how Jerry kept going at and loving Lise even when she didn’t love him back. And how he did anything and gave the impression he would do anything for Lise. Whoever watches this movie will enjoy ad will never forget it.
